cast in iron
what better joys than a cast iron pan. i've been looking high and low for one of these for a budget price. Lodge has a great reputation but their stuff is mostly available in the US of A. i've seen it here but the price is just too much - $50+.
however, today was that day :) i could hardly believe my eyes when i spotted this at a local hospitality outfit called cedar hospitality.

she's a beauty. guess how much. $13. that's right folks. as cheap as one of 'em teflon pans from safeway - except you get more metal for your buck. just giving it a season now in the oven for that non-stick quality. you just do this by heating the pan, rub it down with some oil and chuck it in your oven at 180C for an hour.
what can you do with it? why just abt anything (non-acidic that is). pancakes, steaks, breads, eggs. can't wait to try it out. but alas, needa work-work before then... sure is a good incentive tho :)
