backing it up
i've discovered gmail (again)! following d(onny)'s idea of archiving my research related email to gmail. this was achieved in 2 steps:
1. forwarded new incoming mail using .forward utility in unix
2. forwarding old mailboxes on my account using Mark Lyon's Gmail Loader (available for windows and *nix) via SMTP - it loses the timestamps and all, but found no other solution :(
i've currently accumulated 1100 conversations... it's still uploading!

i've been doing lots of waiting these few weeks - mainly for my much awaited trip overseas where i'll stretch my wing and fly solo for a lil while then with some company :). to quote a sage of today, dave matthews - "breathing just to breathe." thus my research has come to a trickle of ideas. some exciting stuff to try out i reckon, like query expansion utilising ontologies; fuzzy ontology design and the like. however, that will probably have to wait for this summer to implement. the only thing i've managed to implement was to reorganise and clean my desk!
sister's birthday is coming up - in fact it's on the day i fly off from melbourne. planning to surprise her with a little something for her room. right now its stashed away in my room. what is it? ssshhh it's a secret ;) however, she's reluctant to have a party for her birthday. reckons it will be boring. that's like a contradiction already! in programmer language...
or...
she's like my dad - shy's away from any celebrations. guess mum and i will just have to organise one for them and leave them no choice. hehe.
birthdays are so fun :D

$party != boring;
or...
if($party == boring)
let $party = { cool , exciting , fun } ;
